Tapers notes: Part of Duluth Dylan Fest 2026. I always try to get up to Duluth for at least 1 day during Dylan Fest, and this show worked with my schedule. The band played the entire Desire album for the first set, and some outtakes + random tracks in the second set. Sound here is fantastic, no real flaws to speak of. Erin Aldridge is always a treat, and she plays the Scarlet Rivera parts beautifully.

Tapers notes: This was my second year attending this event, and I think this year topped last year in my mind. Last year had a lot of contestants (17), this year they cut it down to 12 and it definitely made a difference. Last years contest went about 4 hours total, this one was a little less than 3, and the songwriting was a little better quality all around. The judges did a really good job in my opinion, the three winners were more than deserving of their place that night. Other highlights for me included Kaylee Matuszak's beautiful rendition of "Girl From the North Country", I always thought that song sounded better with female vocals, and she crushed it. Also, a surprising choice in song by Gavin St. Clair with "Roll on John", you don't see many artists cover "mod Bob", but he did a really good job with a tough song. A cool part of the show was something new they tried this year, where all the contestants and judges sang "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" towards the end of the night, and it really helped cap off a fun event. One other note, John Saaristo was on the contestant list, but did not perform, John Agacki took his place. This show can be streamed on YouTube here.

Tapers notes: Part of Duluth Dylan Fest, I had this one on my calendar as soon as it was announced. Highlights for me was a 15 minute long "All Along the Watchtower", the fairly obscure "Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread", and "She Belongs to Me" with beautiful vocals by Katia Nartovich. All in all, they did these Dylan songs justice, and I would recommend this to any Dylan fans, or jam band fans. I was only able to get the left channel from the SBD as the sound engineer said the right channel had a buzzing that he couldn't get rid of. So, I had to copy the left channel to the right and make it work. It still sounds great to my ears though.

Tapers notes: I've wanted to get to this event for a few years and the timing never worked out until this year. Most of the musicians here were from the area, but there were a few that traveled from far away (Prague, Arkansas). Artists were only judged on their original song, then played a Dylan cover as their second song. My personal favorite was Skarlett Woods, who won second place. Her original was the best of the night in my opinion, and her cover of "You Ain't Going Nowhere" is breathtaking. I had never heard of her, and have since seen her a few times, she's a wonderful musician. I've included copies of the program given at the event, there is a rundown of all the musicians and they songs they chose to sing. There are a few in there that chose a different song than what was listed, so if you notice a discrepancy, that's why.

Placing was as follows:

1st Place – Wille Durie – Hibbing. Minnesota
2nd Place – Skarlett Woods, Bemidji, Minnesota
3rd Place – Misisipi Mike Wolf – San Francisco, California/Duluth, Minnesota
