Tapers notes: This was definitely a unique show. The show was on a Saturday night in a small town, and it felt like everyone was at the Eagles Club that night, it was so packed. I didn't hold out hopes for a great recording on this, but to my surprise, this was actually one of the better sounding recordings I've gotten of Josie. Dale Worden from Litchfield sat in on harmonica for quite a few songs, which was a fun addition. I am finally caught up on mastering recordings, so posts might be less frequent for a while, I tend to take in a lot fewer concerts during the winter, but once spring hits it should be a little more busy.

Tapers notes: Great show as always from Josie, she threw in a couple new songs to her setlist, her version of "The Best" is really great. I'm not much of a fan of the original or Tina Turner's, but Josie's version is really sublime. We found out a couple weeks before this show that Josie is expecting baby #3 sometime in early 2024, so it was great to see her and pass along our congratulations.

Tapers notes: Album release show for Skarlett's new album "Letters to the West". The new album is available at her website listed above, I highly recommend it, it's one of my favorite albums of 2023. The first half of Track 1 is audience only as it was off mic, but after that it's all SBD/AUD mix.

Tapers notes: I had hoped to get a SBD feed of this show, but when I got there I was told there were no spots left to plug in as this was being recorded by a local media company. As of now, I haven't seen the video of this show pop up anywhere, but it should at some point as the other shows they recorded have been uploaded to YouTube. This is a pretty good recording, it was windy this night, but it's really only noticeable in between songs. This was the last show of the Silver Bay concert in the park series for 2023.

Good for Gary is Minnesota’s premier Dance Band and the only band in the Twin Cities playing club music! Boasting a song list taken directly from the top 40 charts, Good for Gary is not afraid to focus on today’s hit music covering the perfect mix of hip-hop pop, dance, and R&B. Artists we cover range from LMFAO & Rihanna to Bruno Mars, Cardi B and Flo-Rida. It’s not uncommon to find the croud saying "I can’t believe they are playing this song and it sounds this great!" Their performances are free of any backing tracks or lip-syncing. They are an incredibly talented group that puts on an energetic and engaging live show that will keep your crowd dancing all night long!

**************************
Tapers notes: I'll be honest, I checked out on Top 40 radio 20 years ago, so a lot of these songs I wasn't familiar with. That being said, Good for Gary puts on a great show, and I had a lot of fun, looking forward to seeing them again. Most of the band played multiple instruments, and multiple members did lead vocals, so I just listed the band members and didn't list which instruments they played.

Tapers notes: I usually am able to get a soundboard feed from Skarlett, but she wasn't using her own sound system, and the one she was using didn't have any place for me to plug in, so this is an audience recording. This is a quiet recording, I amplified it as much as I could without causing too much hiss. Some background noise as this park was set against a road, so you'll hear traffic passing every so often.

Tapers notes: Well, I finally commited the cardinal sin of tapers...I forgot to hit "record". I spent a few minutes before the show with Josie trying to figure out why the volume was so low coming from the soundboard to my recorder and we were able to figure it out. I was pretty pleased, this will eliminate a lot of the hiss present in previous recordings of her. I finished setting everything up and went to my seat, and in between sets I went to stop the recorder and start it again for the second set. My heart sank as I saw I had never started it in the first place. Thankfully, the Zoom had been going, so the first set was recorded, but not in the quality I had hoped for. The second set is SBD/AUD mixed, and it sounds great to my ears, so hopefully going forward this will create a lot better recordings of Josie. Just gotta remember to hit record, ha.

Tapers notes: When I bought these tickets I thought High & Rising was the main act, so when I saw the Sweet Lillies were actually the headliner, I was a little disappointed. That disappointment didn't last long, that's for sure. High & Rising was amazing as usual, and when The Sweet Lillies took the stage I kept an open mind. Thankfully I did, because this band is really impressive, and I'm already looking forward to seeing them again when they pass through here again. They definitely have a unique sound, and the billing with High & Rising was a perfect fit. Thanks to Jack for allowing me to plug in to the board and being helpful in general.

Tapers notes: Part of the Butterfield Threshing Bee. AUD only for track 1 and the first 5 seconds or so of track 2. I was hooked up to the SBD but the sound guy had switched the output going to my recorder off in between sets and forgot to turn it back on. After that he said he would just keep it on until the end of the night, which was appreciated. Great sounding recording here, with some great stories in between songs.

Tapers notes: Part of the Butterfield Threshing Bee. The first track cuts in, they were scheduled for 4:50 and started playing at 4:40. I thought it was just soundcheck, but they had started their set, so I had to quick turn on the recorder and get my stand in the air. I missed the first minute or so of the first song, but this is otherwise complete.

Tapers notes: Part of the Butterfield Threshing Bee. Good recording, there is a lot of buzzing in quieter parts, but it's not a recording flaw, there were a lot of Cicadas out that day and they were very vocal. This was one of the hottest days of the summer, it was over 100 degrees pretty much the whole day until the sun went down, but luckily we found a spot in the shade, and it made the day bearable. Huge thanks to sound engineer Tom Stoneking for being helpful the whole day and allowing me to connect to the soundboard.
