The Church of Cash is not just a band; it’s a mission. Founded by frontman Jay Ernest, this award-winning tribute to the legendary Johnny Cash brings the spirit, sound, and soul of the Man in Black to life with striking authenticity and raw energy.

With a deep respect for Cash’s timeless catalog and a passion for performing, Church of Cash delivers everything from early hits like “Folsom Prison Blues” and “I Walk the Line” to the powerful late-era ballads of the American Recordings. But they’re more than just a tribute—they’re a spiritual revival of classic American music, offering a fresh yet faithful interpretation that resonates with audiences of all generations.

Tapers notes: My first attempt at recording with new mics, and the sound turned out pretty good to my ears. It rained right up until about 10 minutes before the show started, so I caught a break there, but wind still affects parts of the recording. It's worst at the start of set 2 for the first song or two, otherwise it's just a mild annoyance every so often in other parts of the show.

Tapers notes: First set of a 2 set show, unfortunately my recorder had an error at some point during set 2 and none of it recorded. This was the second time it happened in about a month, so I was pretty annoyed to say the least. I came to find out I was running older firmware, and literally the next version of the firmware for my recorder fixed the exact issue I was having. So, hopefully I won't have to deal with again, but unfortunately I only got the first set of this show because of it. Pretty good quality here, Church of Cash always puts on a great show.

Whether you are an ‘ol timer that grew up listening to Mr. Cash in your tractor or a young soldier driving your tank across the deserts of the Middle East with the Man in Black in your headphones, the Church of Cash will bring his music, with style and energy to fans everywhere.

What the Church of Cash has that no one else can match is their loyalty to the song and the message that Johnny left to all of us. The band merely keeps this word alive with a youthful spirit that has entertained audiences completely.
