Known as one of the hardest-rocking country duos around with a reputation for a no-holds-barred approach to country music, Montgomery Gentry was founded more than 20 years ago by Kentucky natives Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Together they crafted numerous singles that charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including the No. 1 hits “If You Ever Stop Loving Me,” “Something to Be Proud Of,” “Lucky Man,” “Back When I Knew It All” and “Roll with Me.” Now, by tragic circumstance, Montgomery carries on as a solo artist holding the promise the duo made to one another long ago to keep the music of Montgomery Gentry alive. Gentry died in a helicopter crash in 2017, and Montgomery says his friend and bandmate inspired many of the songs on his first solo album, “Ain’t No Closing Me Down,” an album that’s both a tribute and a promise to keep going.

Tapers notes: This is not normally my type of show, but my roommate is a big fan so I went with her. It ended up being a lot of fun, Eddie puts on a great show. I began the show in the front row, and as people started coming up to the front of the stage, it got to be too much to handle. I moved during "If You Ever Stop Loving Me", so the sound changes after that. It still sounds pretty decent, a little more distant, but less crowd noise.

After the last song, there was about a minute of an officially released song playing in between that song and the outro. I cut that, so unfortunately the transition isn't very smooth, but nothing was lost as far as the live show goes. There is also a Q & A after the show, I have included that in a separate folder.

Prolific young soul singer Mayda commands the stage with a confidence that conveys star power and magnetism. Her R&B-infused pop is undeniably fresh, as she swings between pared-down acoustic struts, full-band funkadelic blasts, electronic drumbeats and synth flourishes.

Tanya Tucker, a defining voice of country music and a modern-day legend, was signed to a record deal and recorded her debut single “Delta Dawn” at age 13. The single earned a Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and launched Tucker into the national spotlight during her early teenage years. In 1972, she earned the Top New Female Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music. With a wildly growing career at such a young age, the Tucker craze continued with her first No. 1 single in 1973, “What’s Your Mama’s Name.” After a slew of hits in the 1980s, she released “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane” and “It’s a Little Too Late,” which made her one of the best-selling artists in country music. Tucker continues to release new music and tour the country with her classic yet edgy performances.

Outdoor concert at the fair, so some noise in the background during quiter parts. Some buzzing in quieter parts as well, this is not a recording fault, it was coming from some electrical wires nearby. Show was ended early due to lightning in the area and a light rain, it was pretty windy at points but it doesn't sound like it caused any problems with the recording.
