Singer, rapper, and writer Dessa has made a career of bucking genres and defying expectations. Her résumé as a musician includes performances at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, co-compositions for 100-voice choir, performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, and top-200 entries on the Billboard charts. She contributed to the #1 album The Hamilton Mixtape and the RBG documentary; her track, “Congratulations,” has notched over 20 million streams. Dessa has been covered by Pitchfork, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal amongst others. The LA Times says she “sounds like no one else.” NPR’s All Songs Considered calls her “a national treasure.” On the stage and on the page, Dessa’s style is defined by ferocity, wit, tenderness, and candor.

**************************
Tapers notes: There are 3 tracks that are Dessa reading poems from her books, I have made them separate tracks in case anyone would rather listen to just the music. The third one she read ("How to Stage Dive") was performed in the crowd without a mic (about 10 rows from me), so I raised the volume considerably during that time and it created a bit of hiss, but there was really no other way to make it listenable.

This show is probably only for hard core fans. My recorder died at some point and I missed the tail end of "Into The Spin" and all of "The Chaconne", and there was a ton of talkers around me. This is not a show I'd recommend to a casual fan, but I try to share anything I feel someone would appreciate, and I'm sure some dedicated fans would appreciate this.
