Tapers notes: Decent sound on this one, I was able to set my recorder right up against the speaker. There are a few songs where the sound is a little hot, which caused some distortion, but it's still pretty listenable through those points. I was hopeful to get a SBD recording of this show, but her board had a different connection than I was prepared for, so I had to settle for this.

Tapers notes: Much better recording than my previous effort at this venue. Highlight of the show for me personally was "The Wayfaring Stranger". I had asked Skarlett at a previous show if she knew that song, and she wasn't that familiar with it. I said she should check it out and low and behold, she covers it here and does it beautifully. The comment at the end of the song about it not being 21 minutes long was for my benefit, as I had told her my favorite version was the almost 17 minute Tim Buckley version.

Emerging indie artist Skarlett Woods has won or been nominated for countless folk awards in the nation. She has opened for such acts as Stephen Stills, Judy Collins, and the Blues Traveler. While the exquisite voiced singer/songwriter has earned comparisons to Joni Mitchell and KD Lang. Her Americana-Jazz style is what captivates audiences amongst the passionate tales from her life. Keeping honesty on the tip of her pen, Skarlett has produced a body of work that remains true and entirely unto itself.

Tapers notes: Not a great recording unfortunately. I set up in front of Skarlett's normal stand up speaker, but I didn't realize she was going to use the venue speakers until it was too late. The results are the vocals are a tad distant, and the crowd noise is present throughout. I recorded here again in February and came away with a much cleaner recording, so this was a teaching moment.
